I,Too Poem Analysis

I, too, sing America.

I am the darker brother.
(im black)
They send me to eat in the kitchen
(im sent to the kitchen to eat)
When company comes,
(when ppl come)
But I laugh,
(i laugh becaus ei know things will change)
And eat well,
(eats)
And grow strong.
(gets strong)

Tomorrow,
(in the future)
I’ll be at the table
(ill sit at the table)
When company comes.
(when ppl come)
Nobody’ll dare
(no one will)
Say to me,
(tell me)
“Eat in the kitchen,”
(go to the kitchen)
Then.

Besides,
They’ll see how beautiful I am
(they'll see that im a person like everyone else)
And be ashamed—
(and that they were wrong)

I, too, am America.
(i am just like everyone else)
